Wider Karmic Implications

If you have chosen to give allegiance to the Lodge of Materialistic Forces, that is your choice. If you are still somewhat on the fence you are wavering in that general direction. Earlier on in the blog I asked; “Hawk or Dove?” Now why did I do this?

If you look at the blog content much of it points at an elevation of consciousness upwards through the emotional (astral) plane towards the detached mental plane. At the lower echelons of that plane the forces of justified materialism hold sway. At the upper end the Soul reaches down, via the conscience to infuse and advise. The evolutionary journey upwards must pass through this sedation of justified materialism to the higher intuitional (Soular) climate. But only you can decide where you linger, so to speak.

Whether you like to admit it or not you are already on the plains of Kurukṣetra, facing the adventure of a material incarnation. How you use your time, a precious commodity, is up to you. You can succumb to greed, importance and petty self-advancement, or you could choose otherwise.

In this respect you could take your bow and shoot the person trying to get a message across (me) or learn to think and discern for yourself and by yourself. Whatever you do has karmic implication, and that may be much wider and long lasting than you can imagine. Suffice it to say what is going on here may pass well beyond the face value of this blog. I am not so keen on being target practice.

If you are so important that “you” deem karma and the Soul of no or little import, then that is a choice. But think about it a little, what or who is the “you” which is making this decision?

Karma is not individual alone, it is group and even national in nature. Do you really want to share aeonial karma with the group(s) you associate with, or would you prefer to cut your own swathe?

I’ll make a statement here and it does not come from self-pity. By and large I have not been treated well in this country (England), I have experienced exclusion and gossip. I have had people endlessly arguing the toss and been subject to much political manoeuvring. There has been much which is unpleasant. I am just one being. But the microcosm reflects the macrocosm and I sample the collective behaviours. This kind of shit is commonplace. Is this what we seek for life in the 21st century?

There is but one question pertaining:

What are the wider karmic implications of aligning yourself with the Lodge of Materialistic Forces?

The Slow Percolation of Reality

Reality can be slow to percolate. We may have a complacent and idealized view but slowly, drip by drip, reality can seep in. When the UK had the Brexit vote, there were many who cheered and celebrated, there were almost as many who thought “oh fuck”, but now the consequences of that “decision” are filtering through. It is painful, messy and drawn out. It hangs like a cloud over Europe and it will not shift.

Consequence is one aspect of reality.

If we are complacent and arrogant it can be a very long time before we acknowledge the causal relationship between our actions and the consequences. I have a very rough theory, no rather a trend. It says; the more intelligent you are the slower it is that reality percolates. It is not a perfect trend, maybe a guideline. This is partly because intellect can invent a whole bunch of alternate scenarios in regard of what is transpiring, it may even do this deliberately so as to stop the actual reality getting through. There must be any other explanation than the reality.

To give other examples. Two people could be involved in a somewhat co-dependent relationship where arguments and manipulation are common. One day the argument goes to another level and one of the “partners” walks out. The other thinks; “he (or she) will come back begging before long”. There is precedent. However, time goes by and this doesn’t happen. The waiting party tries to inject some manipulations as a hurry-up. There is no response. Soon it begins to dawn that no matter how many more manipulations are attempted, it is done, finito, caput. It can be a very long time before the reality of the situation percolates and the consequences of behaviour are acknowledged. People can take their unreal justifications to the grave.

The wider the significance of consequence, the longer the reality takes to percolate through.

A couple could be relatively happily married with children. One of them is away on a business trip and one night the opportunity of a drunken shag presents. It seems harmless enough. But the person shagged decides to intervene in the lives of the “happily” married couple and starts texting body-part pictures to the ‘phone of the shagger. The wife (or husband) of the shagger gets suspicious and sees these. All hell breaks loose. The reality of the situation shatters the imagined bliss. The shagger might imagine that a repair is possible, but it isn’t, things will never be the same. The children grow up in a broken home in which there is animosity between the parents. One of the children gets mentally ill and is in and out of psychiatric hospitals for their rest of their lives. I could expand this scenario, but won’t, you can if you like.

The time taken for reality to percolate is proportional to the initial levels of complacency.

The more one believes that something could not possibly happen, it is so off the radar, when it does it remains utterly inconceivable for a very long time. The fortress of denial is so sturdy that not a single iota of the reality can percolate through its mighty walls. That could not possibly happen, ergo it didn’t, even if it did.

Until you can acknowledge reality it is impossible for you to respond to it.

You are over due on the rent on your cottage. The landlord has taken you to the county court and you have a letter from the bailiffs saying that they will be around to evict you next week. You have a week to find some alternate accommodation. “That is not really happening, everything will be OK”. When the bailiffs turn up and chuck you out on the street with all your belongings it is more than a little too late to deal with the reality of the situation. The moment has passed.

The only way to offset this tendency to not be real, is to try to be a bit more real. That way reality may percolate a little quicker. But first you have to be prepared to face reality. The consequences of not facing reality are often more wide-ranging than facing it.

Digging Karmic Holes

If you don’t believe in cause and effect, karma, click away now.

This post is related to “traps of our own making” which I covered earlier in the blog. A karmic hole is a dug when you keep on doing the same thing, even when you know it is dodgy. The more you realise the dodginess of it yet keep doing it, the deeper the hole becomes. In time the hole becomes so very deep that you can’t see out of it nor extract yourself therefrom. There is a stubborn insistence that gives energy to the spade. There can also be an arrogance of I or we know best.

The thing is that when you start digging into something it can turn out to be very different from what you first thought you might be digging into. What you imagined were only minor implications can be much bigger, vast even. Intrigued, one digs further and can quickly get out of one’s depth.

To use an example from today. Maybe a country starts to delve into and interfere with middle-eastern politics. It seems clever. But pretty soon one gets drawn into a heated, highly complex and volatile situation, from which there is no way out. This is a karmic hole and the consequences continue to mount. There is no extraction. Once you have gotten yourself deep into a mess, it clings like quicksand.

Karmic holes can be very deep indeed, they can also be very long lasting. Before one can begin to contemplate a way out, one must stop digging first.

Having cued this up:

Have I ever gotten myself into a karmic hole?

Am I in one now?

How long before I stop digging?

At-one-ment, the Result of Initiation

A point that we need to grasp is that each successive initiation brings about a more complete unification of the personality and the Ego (the Soul), and on higher levels still, with the Monad. The whole evolution of the human spirit is a progressive at-one-ment. In the at-one-ment between the Ego and the personality lies hid the mystery of the Christian doctrine of the At-one-ment. One unification takes place at the moment of individualization, when man becomes a conscious rational entity, in contradistinction to the animals. As evolution proceeds successive at-one-ments occur.

At-one-ment on all levels – emotional, intuitional, spiritual and Divine – consists in conscious, continuous functioning. In all cases it is preceded by a burning, through the medium of the inner fire, and by the destruction, through sacrifice, of all that separates. The approach to unity is through destruction of the lower, and of all that forms a barrier. Take, in illustration, the web that separates the etheric body and the emotional. When that web has been burned away by the inner fire the communication between the bodies of the personality becomes continuous and complete, and the three lower vehicles function as one. You have a somewhat analogous situation on the higher levels, though the parallel cannot be pushed to detail. The intuition corresponds to the emotional, and the four higher levels of the mental plane to the etheric. In the destruction of the causal body at the time of the fourth initiation (called symbolically “the Crucifixion”) you have a process analogous to the burning of the web that leads to the unification of the bodies of the personality. The disintegration that is a part of the arhat initiation leads to unity between the Ego and the Monad, expressing itself in the Triad. It is the perfect at-one-ment.

The whole process is therefore for the purpose of making man consciously one:

  1. With himself, and those in incarnation with him.
  2. With his higher Self, and thus with all selves.
  3. With his Spirit, or “Father in Heaven,” and thus with all Monads.
  4. With the Logos, the Three in One and the One in Three.

Man becomes a conscious human being through the instrumentality of the Lords of the Flame, through Their enduring sacrifice.

Man becomes a conscious Ego, with the consciousness of the higher Self, at the third initiation, through the instrumentality of the Masters and of the Christ, and through Their sacrifice in taking physical incarnation for the helping of the world.

Man unites with the Monad at the fifth initiation, through the instrumentality of the Lord of the World, the Solitary Watcher, the Great Sacrifice.

Man becomes one with the Logos through the instrumentality of One about Whom naught may be said.
